What to Expect from the Hornet
If one of the aspects you love about the Dodge brand is its muscle cars, you’ll enjoy the design of the all-new 2023 Dodge Hornet. It falls somewhere between the subcompact and compact categories, with a beautiful muscle-car-inspired design.
Even though the exterior is reminiscent of muscle cars, this SUV is a good competitor in the modern market. It’s a high-performance hybrid packed full of power.
Drivers who like to customize their cars will enjoy the Direct Connection program Dodge is rolling out with the Hornet. You can get all kinds of factory upgrades, including bigger wheels, a lowered suspension, power boosts and customizable decals.
The starting price for the base model is $37,995, and the GT Plus starts at $43,995.
Performance
The Hornet’s GT model is a powerful SUV crossover with a turbocharged 2-litre, four-cylinder engine. You’ll get 265 hp with a nine-speed automatic transmission. This engine is powerful enough to get from 0 to 60 km/h in only 6.5 seconds.
The R/T model is the hybrid version, with an equally, if not more, powerful engine. It gets 285 hp in a 1.3 litre, four-cylinder engine. With this model, you have a six-speed transmission, which can temporarily increase the hp to 25 with a PowerShot feature. Using this, the vehicle can go from 0 to 60 km/h in 6.1 seconds.
Both engines come standard with all-wheel drive. The hybrid comes with a 12.0 kWh battery, and on level two, the charging time is around two-and-a-half hours. This should be good for 30km of driving distance.
Safety
This is a relatively safe vehicle, with a range of driver-assist features standard. These include automatic emergency braking, bicycle and pedestrian detection, and blind-spot monitoring. It also has a lane-keep assist and a lane-departure warning.
Some added extras from which you can choose include driver attention monitoring, traffic sign recognition, and adaptive cruise control.
